On January 13, 1931, the first issue of the newspaper” For Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture” was published, which was considered a body of students, teachers, and staff of the Kharkiv Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture. Volosyuk, the secretary of the LKSMU bureau, congratulated the readers on the release of the first issue. implementation of the resolutions of the CPSU (b) and CP (b) U for the industrialization of the country, for the implementation of the 5th river in 3 years… ”
The collectivization of agriculture was in full swing in the country, which required a large number of engineering and technical personnel. Therefore, the KHIMEA press body, which was given a far from the secondary role, joined the struggle for the training of this personnel. Initially, the newspaper was published once every two weeks in volumes of 4 to 6 pages and paid much attention to ideological and political work among students and teachers, who were to become “drummers of socialist construction.” At the same time, the newspaper covered the problems related to the organization of the educational process at the institute, the improvement of its material and technical base, the arrangement of students’ lives. The names of many of them can be found in the yellowed columns of the newspaper, which conveys the dynamic spirit of its time. It was a time of great accomplishments that affected the fate of many students, teachers, and staff of the former KHIMEA…
In general, the newspaper is an invaluable source for studying the history of our university. Therefore, in the year of his 90th birthday, we decided to publish the archive of the newspaper for 1931-1933, which was found in the funds of the National Library of Ukraine named after V. Vernadsky. In total, these are 38 issues of the newspaper, which at our request were digitized and translated into pdf-files (separate issues are missing). We advise everyone to read this archive and use it in their work.
