Congratulations to Demid Karachenkov, a third-year student at the Institute of Processing and Food Production, who won a gold medal at the European Sumo Championship among young people and adults.
The championship was held in the Russian city of Kazan, where Kharkiv played as part of the national team of Ukraine and won 3 gold and 2 bronze medals.
In the men’s competition (weight category up to 85 kg) Demid Karachenkov defeated his rival from Russia in the final and became the European champion. In addition, Demid won a bronze medal in the youth competition in the weight category up to 85 kg.
According to the Department of Youth and Sports of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, this championship was one of the main stages of selection for the World Games, which will take place next year in the American city of Birmingham.
