The Department of Reliability, Strength, and Technical Service of Machines begins its history in 1971 when the university management decided to train specialists familiar with the reliability of agricultural machinery. The first head of the department was Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor V. Anilovich, who, having experience in design and research work, was acutely aware of the need to disseminate the experience gained among future professionals.
From the first years of the department’s existence, Professor Anilovich identified the main directions of its further development. The efforts of employees were aimed at the development of such disciplines as “Resistance of materials” (Mechanics of materials and structures) and “Reliability of agricultural machinery”. A natural result was the publication in 1996 of the textbook “Strength and reliability of machines”, which not only shows the common goal and interpenetration of these disciplines but also outlines ways to further develop the science of reliability.
Deep understanding of the natural connection of design and organizational and operational methods of ensuring the reliability of machines and structures, has led to a significant expansion of the list of disciplines taught by the department:
- Construction Mechanics
- Determination and control of reliability this year techniques
- Test and test reliability
- Dynamic strength and reliability of machines
- Operation of oil depots and the Armed Forces
- Machine operation and maintenance
- Computer diagnostics and machine condition monitoring
- Computer Reliability Modeling
- Quality management and control in mechanical engineering
- Mathematical modeling and statistics
- Research methods and organization
- Research Methodology
- Mechanics of materials and structures
- Modeling the reliability of structures
- Car reliability
- Machine and CIS reliability
- Machine reliability
- TK oil product supply
- Resistance of materials
- Optimal equipment design
- Transportation of dangerous goods
- Car design
- Design of technological processes of MOT machines
- Calculations when designing machines
- Development of quality management systems
- Theories of machine operation and design of technical systems
- Technical and operational parameters of vehicles and their diagnostics
- Technical diagnostics
In addition to training, the department conducts significant scientific work. Postgraduate and doctoral studies work successfully. Over the last decade, 4 candidate and 3 doctoral dissertations have been defended. At present, the teaching staff of the department is 92% specialists who have a scientific degree and academic title, of which 42% are professors and doctors of sciences.
Areas of scientific work of the department are evaluation, forecasting, and modeling of reliability of tractors and agricultural machines, increasing the durability of units and systems of traction and energy means, development of technical methods of testing machine elements for reliability, research of dynamic strength of their components and units. In these areas, the department performs economic contract research work with enterprises of Ukraine. The results of such cooperation are aimed at ensuring the reliability of machinery, and one of its results was the participation in the development of a system of industry standards – SOU on the reliability and testing of the machinery of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Every year the department holds an international scientific-practical conference dedicated to the memory of Professor V. Anilovich, based on the results of which a separate issue of the professional scientific journal “Technical service of agro-industrial, forest and transport complexes” is published.
The high scientific potential of the department is reflected in the formulation and methodological improvement of teaching disciplines. The laboratories, classrooms, and computer classes of the department are equipped with modern multimedia equipment, which provides a wide range of opportunities in the choice of forms and methods of teaching and mastering a wide range of professional skills. The department is a graduate of the specialty “Service Engineering, Quality Control and Reliability of Machines” educational qualification level “Master”.
