Historical background

Alov Oleksandr, professor

Well-known Kharkiv scientist in the field of agricultural mechanization. One of the founders of HIMESG. He was born in 1872. He worked at KhIMEA in 1930-1938. He died in 1938.

Even before the revolution, he became a well-known author of scientific works on agricultural mechanics; working as a professor at the New Alexandria Institute of Agriculture and Forestry, he repeatedly visited Germany and Austria-Hungary to study the achievements of agriculture. mechanical engineering and agricultural engineering education.

In 1915-1922 OO Alov headed the Kharkiv Agricultural Institute (now KhNAU named after V. Dokuchaev), was a talented organizer of science; in the late 20’s he became the founder of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Agricultural Engineering.

Appointed Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of KhIMEA in 1930, he played an important role in determining the profile of the institute, recruiting teachers, organizing departments, providing training and laboratory facilities, curriculum development, admission and placement of the first students. In 1915-1922 O. Alov headed the Kharkiv Agricultural Institute (now KhNAU named after V. Dokuchaev), was a talented organizer of science; in the late 20’s he became the founder of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Agricultural Engineering.

The scientist became the founder of the department of agricultural machines, which he headed until the end of 1935, laid the foundation of the scientific school of the institute, its pedagogical and educational traditions.

Historical background

Kramarenko Leonid, Professor, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences

An outstanding Soviet scientist in the field of agricultural mechanics. He was born in 1881. He worked at KhIMEA in 1935-1941. He died in 1960.

The scientist began to engage in scientific work in 1915 as head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Agriculture of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, then managed a machine-testing station, the founder of which was a famous scientist-professor K. Schindler. His dissertation “The cutting apparatus of modern harvesting machines and its theory” was highly praised by scientists and specialists.

Later he was a professor at the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, head of the section of agricultural engineering of the USSR Academy of Sciences, dean of the faculty of the Kharkiv Technological Institute, head of the department of agricultural machinery of the Mechanical Engineering Institute. In connection with the technical modernization of agricultural production and the development of Soviet combine construction in the 30’s he began to develop some new scientific directions, publishes significant scientific papers on the theory, design, and calculation of combines, tillage machines, implements, etc. on a par with well-known Soviet scientists in the field of agricultural mechanics.

Since 1935 he has been a professor at HIMESG and head of the Department of Agricultural Machinery. He spends a lot of time organizing scientific work at the institute. And after the war, he trains young scientists, develops problems of livestock mechanization at the Ukrainian Institute of Animal Husbandry.

Historical background

Petrusov Oleksandr, professor

Well-known Soviet scientist in the field of agricultural engineering. He was born in 1884. He worked at KHIMESG in 1961 – 1969. He died in 1969.

The scientist began his scientific career working at a research station in 1914 and then published his first work. These works were “Testing of hay mowers” McCormick “and” Hercules”. Then he worked as the head of the department of complex harvesting agricultural machines in Petrograd in the Bureau of Agriculture. Mechanics of the Scientific Committee of the Department of Agriculture and took part in their tests at the Akimov machine-testing station.

From 1916 he conducted educational and pedagogical activities in higher educational institutions of Katerynoslav, working as an associate professor, professor, rector of the Institute of Technology. The fruitful work of the scientist marked the further years of his activity in educational institutions of Vladikavkaz, Krasnodar, Voronezh, Altai Territory..

From 1950 he moved to Kharkiv and worked on the study of the Department of Agricultural Engineering KhPI, and 1961 he moved to KhIMEA as head of the laboratory of vibrating grain cleaning machines, promotes the formation of new scientific materials and scientific schools. He has published almost 80 scientific papers, including 11 textbooks on theories of mechanisms, tillage implements, seeding machines, separation, etc. Scientists have trained 5 doctors and more than 40 candidates of science, implemented some measures to rationalize production at leading institutions, which were determined by the victories.

Historical background

Semenov Oleksandr, professor

Well-known scientist and educator, a specialist in the theory, development, and design of seeding machines. He was born in 1904. He worked at KhIMEA in 1969-1974. He died in 1976.

The scientist was engaged in a scientific and pedagogical activity for almost 40 years. He worked in Voronezh, Odesa, Saratov, Chisinau, and Melitopol educational institutions of the agro-industrial profile. From 1969 he worked as the head of the department of agricultural machinery at the Kharkiv Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture. During this time, under his leadership, the department has significantly expanded and strengthened the material, technical, and educational base, which allowed us to organize research in new areas in the mechanization of agricultural production. One of the best laboratories in this field is named after this scientist.

Lectures of the outstanding teacher on the level were interesting not only for operators but also for designers of agricultural machinery..

During his scientific and pedagogical activity, the scientist published 150 scientific works, among them important reference books for agronomists, machine operators, engineers, etc. He prepared almost 60 candidates and doctors of sciences. For many years of the scientific and pedagogical activity, the scientist was awarded government awards. He was awarded the title of “Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Moldova”.

Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor O. Petrusov was the organizer and the first scientific director of the research laboratory of vibrating seed cleaning machines at the Department of Agricultural Machinery.
