The Department of Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies was established in 2000 on the basis of part of the teaching staff of the Department of Cybernetics of the University.
According to the order of the rector of the university from December 30, 2009 on streamlining the structure of the university, the name of the department was changed to the department of automation of computer-integrated technologies.
Currently, the teaching staff of the department includes both experienced, highly qualified specialists (2 – doctors of sciences, professors, 5 – candidates of sciences, associate professors) and promising young teachers and scientists.
In the period from 2000 to 2016, the department was headed by a well-known scientist in Ukraine and abroad – a specialist in the field of architecture and technology of programmable controllers for industrial purposes, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, Academician of the Academy of Higher Education of Ukraine Furman Ilya Alexandrovich, who has extensive experience in research and implementation in the production of modern automated technological complexes. He is the initiator and author of the development of the work program and methods of teaching the new discipline “Microprocessor Control Devices”. During the years of the department’s existence, he personally and together with the teachers of the department prepared and printed 27 textbooks and manuals with the stamp of the Ministry of Education, more than 300 articles, received 15 patents of Ukraine for inventions. During this period, three doctoral and 6 candidate dissertations were defended at the department.
In the period from 2016 to 2018, the department was headed by Oleksiy Mykolayovych Piskarev. During this period, the department has significantly updated laboratory equipment, modernized computer classes, received a license for the specialty 123 – Computer Engineering.
Since 2018, the department is headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Sergei Timchuk.
Heads of AKIT departments in different years
Furman Illia from 2000 to 2016 | Piskarov Oleksii from 2016 to 2018 | Tymchuk Serhii from 2018 to the present |
The Department of Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies has a modern material and technical base. The department has three basic training laboratories: a laboratory of basics of automation, a laboratory of microprocessor programmable control devices, a laboratory of integrated computer technology, as well as two computer classes and a modern lecture hall.
All training laboratories are equipped with modern means of computer equipment and industrial automation, namely: personal computers connected to a local network and connected to the Internet; various peripherals, including laser printers, scanners, LAN switches; programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for industrial purposes of different companies; devices and sensors of agro-industrial automation systems.
Logistics of the department allows you to effectively use computer technology in the educational process. All practical and qualification work students perform using computers, namely: engineering calculations using Excel, research of automatic control systems using PPP MatLab, modern SCADA packages, designing a set of design documentation for electrical equipment and automation systems using Autocad Electrical.
The Department of Automation and Computer-Integrated Technologies constantly maintains creative relations with leading enterprises and free economic zones: Kharkiv Instrument-Making Plant named after T.G. Shevchenko, the Department of Computer Systems and Networks of the National Aerospace University, the Department of Computer Science of Sumy State University, the Institute of Energy, Automation and Energy Saving of NULES.
The main directions of research work of the department: research and creation of high-performance integrated computer technologies and control systems of technological processes of agro-industrial production; development of the theory of construction, architecture and technology of industrial application of high-speed computers and control machines of parallel action on the basis of regular micro-electronic structures; research and creation of highly reliable microcontrollers and microprocessor testers for mobile and stationary agricultural units; research and creation of decision support systems in conditions of uncertainty; information technologies Smart grid for power supply systems, as well as integrated ASKTP agro-industrial production.
