History of the department
The Department of Automated Electromechanical Systems is part of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Energy and Computer Technologies, it was founded in October 1953 on the basis of the existing Department “Application, production and distribution of electricity in agriculture”.
In different years the department was headed by P. Osetrov, I. Bazhenov, V. Kurishev, P. Savchenko, O. Tishchenko. Since 2004 the department was headed by M. Lysychenko, and since 2017 – M. Sorokin.
Today the department employs highly qualified specialists who have significant scientific, methodological and production experience.
The educational work of the department is built in accordance with the requirements of production, science, technology and their future development on the basis of standard work programs and a calendar plan for training specialists of educational and qualification level BACHELOR and MASTER. For this purpose, the appropriate material and laboratory base has been created at the department.
The Department of AEMS has 5 training laboratories and 1 research laboratory.
The team constantly pays attention to the methodological support of the educational process. In recent years, the textbook “Electric Drive”, a textbook “Electric Drive in the agro-industrial complex. Lecture notes “. Up to 20 updated methodical instructions are issued annually at the department.
The laboratory of electric drive bases has been updated with new technical devices, for example, a microprocessor current frequency converter for speed control of induction motors in electric electric drives.
The laboratory stand on its basis is actively used in research of postgraduate students and laboratory employment of students.
The department has a regular scientific and methodological seminar, which reviews the reports of the best students who have practiced abroad, on farms in Europe and the United States, reports of teachers on advanced training, preliminary defense of dissertations.
The high level of scientific research is evidenced by the large number of awards received by the teaching staff of the department.

Scientific activity of the department
The department is actively working in the development and implementation of automated control systems for electrical machines and devices in production processes.
The department is a leader in Ukraine in the direction of development of low-energy laser technologies in agriculture. Work in this direction has been carried out for the last 15 years in cooperation with the Institute of Animal Husbandry UAAS, the Institute of Pig UAAS, the Institute of Poultry UAAS and other scientific institutions. More than 150 scientific works have been published in this direction, 5 patents for the invention of Ukraine have been obtained. Confirmation of the high level of research is the holding in the last two years of the meeting section “Laser Technologies in Agriculture” (head Prof. M. Lysychenko) in the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Application of lasers in medicine and biology” (“Laser and Health”) on the basis of The Petrо Vasilenko Kharkiv National Technical University of Agriculture
