Today, under the chairmanship of Acting Rector of KNTUА S. Zaika held a regular meeting of the Academic Council of the University, which addressed some important issues related to the organization of the educational process and research and educational activities of the institution. Due to quarantine restrictions, some members of the Academic Council participated in the meeting remotely through video channels, which, however, did not interfere with the constructive and fruitful work of the collegial body.
In particular, the meeting of the Academic Council heard the report of the methodologist of the educational and methodical department M. Marchenko, who informed about the implementation of the plan of publishing activities of departments of Educational and Scientific Institutes for 2019/2020 academic year and approval of the Plan of preparation and publication of scientific, educational, educational and methodical literature for 2020/2021 academic year.
The head of the educational department of KNTUA N. Berezhna reported on the state of implementation of the recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on a temporary transition to distance learning at the university. She drew the attention of the Directors of the Educational and Scientific Institutes and the Dean of the F TSL to the need to intensify work with students on-line and strengthen control over the conduct of classes remotely. To this end, the curators of the academic groups were also encouraged to work with the students and to emphasize once again the obligation to attend classes in the context of restrictive measures.
Continuing this topic, the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Economic Development, and Infrastructure A. Mykytas informed the members of the Academic Council about the implementation of the order on the temporary transition to distance learning and ensuring safe living conditions in dormitories for those who remained there.
The meeting of the Academic Council also heard a report on the results of participation of university students in competitions of student research papers, as a result of which KNTUА took third place among other institutions of higher education in agriculture. Associate Professor A. Kaliuzhnyi reported on this issue, presenting a detailed analysis of the contribution of each research institute and research and teaching staff in this matter. See Presentation (2020). Complementing his colleague, the projector of scientific work V. Melnyk noted that third place is a good indicator for our university, but it needs to be improved at the expense of unused reserves. For this purpose, a system of awarding those teachers who were leaders of student research and achieved the best results will also be used..
The results of the admission campaign in 2020 were reported at the meeting of the Academic Council by the Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee S. Skofenko, who noted the positive dynamics in the admission of applicants, in particular, to budget places. Vocational guidance among school and college graduates, as well as the work of the university’s educational center and preparatory courses, played a significant role here. According to S. Skofenko, out of 88 people who completed preparatory courses at KNTUА, 57 people entered our university for budget places, and some became students of other universities. This indicates the high level of teachers of preparatory courses of KNTUА and the quality of their work, which has allowed many graduates to successfully pass the external examination and enter higher education institutions. Therefore, this area of work with future entrants should be further developed using various methods and forms of training, – said the speaker.
The meeting of the Academic Council also considered some other issues that were included in the agenda. In particular, the members of the Verkhovna Rada approved the individual plans and topics of dissertations of postgraduate students of KNTUА and supported the recognition of the results of advanced training by some scientific and pedagogical staff of the university. Besides, a new version of the Regulations on competitive selection for filling vacancies of research and teaching staff of the university and concluding employment agreements (contracts) with them and a new composition of the ethics and professional commission of the university were approved.
