Today marks the 90th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Belebekha (November 10, 1930 – January 22, 2015), a famous scientist-economist, accountant, historian, public figure, who was a professor at the Kharkiv Petro Vasylenko National Technical University of Agriculture.
His name is listed in the Encyclopedia of Modern Ukraine as a unique and multifaceted personality , a true patriot of Ukraine. After all, in addition to his professional activity, Ivan was actively involved in public, political and literary activities, he thoroughly knew the history, literature, and culture of Ukraine, cooperated with the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists, was a member of the editorial board of the weekly KUN “Nation and State”, published a number of books and historical and patriotic brochures and a number of journalistic articles in defense of Ukrainian statehood and the Ukrainian nation.

In 1999, I. Belebekha became one of the founders of the Department of Accounting and Auditing, which was founded as part of the Faculty of Management at the time, Kharkiv State Technical University of Agriculture. His colleagues recall that Ivan Oleksiyovych came to the department with significant teaching and research experience in the field of accounting and at that time was one of the few scholars who defended his doctoral dissertation directly related to accounting issues. In addition, I. Belebekha had experience in organizing educational and scientific activities in accounting and control, because he managed to work as the head of accounting departments at the universities of Kursk, Ternopil, and Dnepropetrovsk. By the way, one of his students was the future President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, who studied at the Ternopil Financial and Economic Institute. At that time (1971-1981), Professor Belebekh headed the accounting department there and was curator of Yushchenko.
From 1988 to 1998 he was a professor at the Department of Economics, Business and Marketing and from 2000 – Professor at the Department of Accounting and Auditing KhNTUА
Doctor of Economics, Professor, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine I. Belebekh left behind many talented students and associates who continue his work with dignity. That is why today, together with them, we bow our heads before the bright memory of Ivan Belebekha.
