Education

• 1973 – received a diploma from the Kharkiv Agricultural Institute named after V.V. Dokuchaev, majoring in Agronomy, qualification agronomist.
• 1979 – defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences.
• 2003 – defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Agricultural Sciences.
• 2004 – received a certificate of professor in the specialty 06.01.05 – plant breeding.
• Since 2007 – Academician of NAAS of Ukraine.

Career

• 1976–1980 – junior researcher at the Laboratory of Barley Breeding and Genetics of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Plant Breeding, Breeding, and Genetics named after V.Ya. Yuriev.
• 1980–1991 – senior researcher of the laboratory of sunflower breeding of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Plant Breeding, Breeding, and Genetics named after V.Ya. Yuriev.
• Since 1991 he has been the head of the sunflower breeding department.
• 2000–2012 – Director of the Institute of Plant Breeding named after V. Ya. Yuriev NAAS.
• 2001 – Order “For Merits” of the III degree.
• 2004 – honorary title “Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine”.
• 2005–2018 – part-time professor of the Department of Genetics, Breeding and Seed Production of KhNAU named after V.V. Dokuchaeva.
• 2012–2014 – Chief Research Fellow of the Sunflower Breeding Laboratory of the Institute of Plant Breeding named after V. Ya. Yuriev NAAS.
• Since 2014 – Director of the Institute of Plant Breeding. V. Ya. Yuriev NAAS.
• Since 2018 – part-time professor of the Department of Agrotechnology and Ecology of KhNTUA.

Research activities

With his participation, 120 hybrids and varieties of sunflower were created. 35 of them are included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine. Author and co-author of more than 450 scientific papers, including six monographs, 87 patents.
