The department was founded in 1966 by order of the Ministry of Higher and Special Education of the USSR. The founder of the department was Mykhailo Yevseyev – the rector of the then KIMEA.
From 1967 to 1983 the department was headed by Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Boris Petrovich Shabelnyk. From 1983 to 2005 the department worked under the guidance of Professor, Ph.D. tech. Sciences Boyko Ivan Grigorovich. From December 2016 to May 2017 the department was headed by Boyko IG and Nagorny SA Since 2005, the department is headed by Professor, Ph.D. tech. Naumenko O.
The period of B. Shabelnyk’s management was significant for the creation and development of the department. He, together with the teachers of the department, created such laboratories as “Milking cows”, “Primary milk processing”, “Preparation of feed”, built and equipped with the necessary machines feed shop “Lighthouse 6”. Such laboratories have made it possible to more closely combine the theory and practice of technological processes in the production of livestock products.
“Kutuzivka” NGO “Plemelita” UAAS. During this time, the material base of the department has significantly expanded. The branch research laboratory is organized. Shabelnyk B. established a scientific school to create a set of machines for harvesting fodder roots. The best representatives of the school: Boyko I., Dzyuba A., Gridasov V., Nanka O., who fruitfully performed research work, defended their dissertations and joined the teaching staff of the department, and Professor Boyko I. headed the scientific school for substantiation and development of tools. for dosing and mixing feed. The staff of the department was replenished by pupils of the school – young scientists Rusalyov O., Shchur T., Sementsov V., Slavkova L., Merinets M., Sementsov V., and Boyko D., Candidates of Sciences Nagorny S., Ishchenko K., Chigrin O., Paliy A.
Now the department has two specialized lecture halls and seven specialized laboratories for laboratory and practical classes. The scientific-educational-production audience deserves special attention: “Research and improvement of working bodies of machines for animal husbandry” and “Design of machines and technological processes for animal husbandry”. In these laboratories, students, conducting experimental studies of machines and units, identify the shortcomings of their working bodies, model production conditions, use computer technology to design more advanced machines, and conduct their production testing. The main teaching methods that activate the learning process are business games, block-modular teaching methods, rating conformity of knowledge control. Naumenko OA and Boyko IG organized classes with an in-depth study of the basics of calculations of the working bodies of machines for animal husbandry. The department has a computer class, which is intensively used in the course and diploma design, and some diploma projects are performed on the materials of students’ research.
The research work of the staff of the department is aimed at finding scientific principles, technological and technical solutions for resource conservation in the production of livestock products. According to the results of scientific research, a machine for cutting cuttings and harvesting fodder beets (Prof. Shabelnyk B.), a technological line for preparing prefixes (Assoc. Prof. Boyko I.), a technology for keeping cows in industrial milk production (Assoc. Prof. Klimontov V.) were developed and implemented. ), energy-saving technology of processing bird droppings to obtain additives (Assoc. Prof. Gridasov V.)
Employees of the department developed and manufactured 3 samples of machines and equipment, which at different times were exhibited at the Union and Republican exhibitions and were awarded medals and diplomas, including the award “Best Product of the Year”. “Technology Maps” and “Catalogs of Technology Solutions” were also developed. The teachers of the department have about 140 copyright certificates and patents for inventions. Students of the faculties of technological service and mechanical-technological take an active part in research work.
According to the results of scientific research, the following monographs have been published: “Theory and practical justification of the parameters of the working bodies of beet harvesters”, “Conveyors – cleaners of root harvesting machines”, “Energy-saving technology of milk production”The research work of the staff of the department is aimed at finding scientific principles, technological and technical solutions for resource conservation in the production of livestock products. Pupils of the department became the leading heads of other universities (vice-rector of LNAU Schur T.), foreign companies (Canada – Chigrin O.)
Postgraduate students study at the department, majoring in agricultural mechanization in the areas of development and research of adaptive milking machines, development, and research of mixers.
The department is equipped with a computer class for 12 jobs, which is intensively used in the course and diploma design, and some diploma projects are performed based on research students.
