Rating of agrarian free economic zones of Ukraine following the results of 2020

Annual information educational resource “Osvita.ua” publishes consolidated rating of higher education institutions of Ukraine , for which the most authoritative among experts and mass media national ratings of educational institutions of Ukraine are used as initial data: “Top-200 Ukraine”, “Scopus”, “External Evaluation Ball for Contract” and others. Each of them reflects different evaluation criteria for higher education institutions in Ukraine, but in general allows us to see their place among other free educational institutions and the changes that have taken place over the past year. Currently, it is a rating of 2020, which includes almost 240 both public and private higher education institutions in Ukraine.

In addition, based on the generalized rating “Osvita.ua” concludes the TOP-10 best classical, medical, pedagogical, private institutions higher education of Ukraine, which have their own specifics and features. Such features have agricultural institutions of higher education, which mostly work with graduates of rural schools. It is no secret that the level of knowledge of graduates of such schools is significantly inferior to graduates of urban educational institutions, and therefore have lower scores in external evaluation, especially in mathematics. Hence the lower average scores of external examinations included in agricultural free economic zones (both on the budget and on the contractual form of education), compared to classical or, for example, medical universities. This is a general trend that has been observed for many years. Given these circumstances, based on the generalized rating, we decided to make a separate rating of agricultural institutions of higher education in Ukraine to compare them with each other and determine the best.

Rating of agrarian free economic zones of Ukraine following the results of 2020

As you can see, in the general rating of institutions of higher education Kharkiv Petro Vasylenko National Technical University of Agriculture took 118th place , improving its position compared to last year’s rating by as much as 30 points (in 2019 – was 148-151 place). But in the “Top-200 Ukraine” KhNTUA took 81st place (in 2019 – 85th place). According to the EIT score for the contract – 185th place (in 2019 there were 201st place) and according to the number of publications in Scopus – 104th place (in 2019 there were 123rd).

Thus, last year our university improved its position on all key indicators used in the consolidated ranking. At the same time, Kharkiv Petro Vasylenko National Technical University of Agriculture took 6th place among 20 agricultural institutions of higher education in Ukraine and 16th place among 30 institutions of higher education in Kharkiv and Kharkiv region. He also remains the undisputed leader among other agricultural free economic zones of the Kharkiv region, as Kharkiv National Agrarian University named after V.V. Dokuchaev took only 171st place in the consolidated rating, and Kharkiv State Zooveterinary Academy 218-219 place.

In the regional context (East of Ukraine), Kharkiv Petro Vasylenko National Technical University of Agriculture ranks second after Sumy National Agrarian University , which took 107th place in the consolidated ranking. But according to the rating “TOP-200 Ukraine”, this university took only 114th place , one step ahead of Kharkiv National Agrarian University named after V.V. Dokuchaev (113th place). It is also worth noting that in this ranking Poltava State Agrarian Academy took 123rd place , Kharkiv State Zooveterinary Academy > – 198 , and Luhansk National Agrarian University – 201 place.

Of course, the university’s place in the ranking is not the main indicator of its activity, but the ranking indicators also say a lot, as they are based on objective data that largely reflect the dynamics of the university in modern conditions and its popularity among entrants. Such an indirect indicator can be an indicator of the number of applications submitted by entrants to a particular free economic zone. It is nice to note that during last year’s admission campaign Kharkiv Petro Vasylenko National Technical University of Agriculture broke all records of previous years, as the number of applications took second place among agricultural institutions of higher education in Ukraine and 7th place among the Free Economic Zone of Kharkiv.

It will be recalled that in 2020, 8781 applications for admission to Kharkiv Petro Vasylenko National Technical University of Agriculture were submitted by entrants (according to all priorities), which turned out to be 2522 more applications than in 2019. And this is another proof that the Kharkiv Petro Vasylenko National Technical University of Agriculture has significant potential for the development and strengthening of its position in the modern educational space.
